[Buch] 2 Inspirational Reads (Mini Reviews)

Meet Mrs. Smith: My Adventures with Six Kids, One Rockstar Husband, and a Heart to Fight PovertyMeet Mrs. Smith: My Adventures with Six Kids, One Rockstar Husband, and a Heart to Fight Poverty by Anna Smith
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Anna Smith is a mother of six and the wife of Delirious? front man Martin Smith. Delirious? was an extremely successful British Christian rock band that played live in over 40 countries during their career (1992-2009). For the families this meant a lot of time spent apart whenever the band was touring the planet, although they did try to take their wives and kids with them whenever possible.

This book tells the Delirious?-story from Anna's point of view and focuses on the daily challenges she was facing at home while her creative husband made history. Her personal account is full of fine British humour, authentic dealing with struggles and hardship and spiritual encouragement without sounding preachy. I greatly enjoyed this read.

Quotes:
So both of us were back at work - one performing to crowds of over four hundred thousand and the other wiping bottoms and keeping Pampers in business.

Where there is tension there is movement. Where there is movement there is life. Where there is life there is love, and love must be the center of every decision we make. It's our motive for doing something that counts...

WordsWords by Ginny L. Yttrup
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Kaylee is 10 years old and for the past months has been living in a remote cabin with Jack who is constantly abusing her emotionally and physically. Since her drug-addled mother abandoned her, Kaylee doesn't speak but in her mind she collects and clings to the words she finds in a dictionary, the only thing left to her from her short childhood.

Sierra is 34 and has been alone for 12 years. Ever since her infant daughter died she's been struggling with guilt and trying to bury the pain by controlling her circumstances and not allowing anybody to get close to her again.

When Kaylee and Sierra meet "by chance", a unique relationship unfolds which will eventually bring divine healing to them both.

"Words" is a heart-wrenching inspirational read that I couldn't put down.

Quote:
I collect words. I keep them in a box in my mind. I'd like to keep them in a real box, something pretty, maybe a shoe box covered with flowered wrapping paper...
